This past week has been a whirlwind. I am so honored and excited to be Miss Teen Rodeo Montana 2010. As for many girls before me, this has been a dream of mine for a long time.
Wednesday, January 13th my Mom and I headed to Great Falls for the MRM and MTRM Pageant held at the Montana Circuit Finals. I was so nervous/excited for the days of competition to come, that it was difficult to sleep! The pageant started the next day at check-in and quickly got under-way with lunch at the Cattleman's Cut, horsemanship, the PRCA Mixer, written horsemanship test, and the pajama party. Next came a visit to Hoglunds, personal interview, speech luncheon and media interview, and the first rodeo of the weekend. Saturday was the style show and the second rodeo performance. The pageant flew by so fast. I had so much fun getting to know the other contestants, Keenan, Bridget, Shantell and Jourdon. Sunday was the coronation and as I'm sure all of the other contestants can relate, the nerves certainly didn't stop. Sunday afternoon was the third and last rodeo performance. Jourdon and I were in the grand entry, carried sponsor flags and cleared the arena after steer wrestling and tie-down roping. We also got to help with the awards and presentations. I was and still am so shocked and excited to learn that I won the title of Miss Teen Rodeo Montana. This would not have been possible without the help and coaching that I recieved prior to the pageant. I look forward to a great year working with my director Linda, and I know that, as always, Jourdon and I will have so much fun together! I am very fortunate to be able to follow the great example that Sam and Lesli gave last year. I want to thank them for setting the bar so high for Jourdon and I, and for their friendship. I also want to thank the board, the chaperones, the judges, all of the volunteers and MRMI for everything they did.
When my parents and I got back to Helena Sunday night, I started to study for my semester tests. This was quite the task because I couldn't focus on anything but my new shiny crown and buckle, but thankfully my tests went well. Jourdon and I went to Bozeman the following Wednesday for a photo shoot, and had a blast! This coming weekend, Jan. 29-31, we will head to Lewistown for the Winter Fair and then to Billings for the Montana Cowboy Wall of Fame dinner. I am so excited for these next days to come!
